General-Directorate CCF of the Ministry of Commerce and European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (EuroCham) with the support of Deutshe Gesellshaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) co-organized a National Conference on Consumer Protection “Driving Cambodia’s Consumer-First Environment Progress & Achievement”

11 November 2021, at the Raffles Royal Hotel Phnom Penh, a National Conference on Consumer Protection "Driving Cambodia’s Consumer-First Environment Progress & Achievement”, under the chairmanship of H.E. Phan Oun, Royal Government of Cambodia Delegate in charge of General-Directorate CCF, a member and secretary of the National Commission for Consumer Protection and a representative of H.E. Pan Sorasak, Minister of Commerce and Chairman of the National Commission for Consumer Protection. This conference was organized in collaboration with General-Directorate CCF of the Ministry of Commerce and European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia (EuroCham) with the support of Deutshe Gesellshaft fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ).

This national conference aims to promote and enhance consumer protection, as well as share good experiences with each other and discuss new issues which are emerging in the field of consumer protection locally and internationally.

The conference will discuss in detail issues related to consumer protection, in particular exchanging and sharing of good experiences, finding solutions to challenges and identifying priority areas to strengthen its law enforcement mechanisms, strengthening the capacity of law enforcement officers, promoting awareness of the law to businesses, advocating consumer rights and stakeholders.

After organizing this national conference, we will receive key inputs leading to the drafting of the National Program on Consumer Protection in Cambodia and other draft legal documents, as well as encouraging the establishment of consumer associations in Cambodia to contribute to the orientation towards ASEAN-global economic integration aligned with the ASEAN Strategic Action Plan on Consumer Protection for the 2016-2025 ASEAN Strategic Action Plan for Consumer Protection (ASAPCP) that  ASEAN member states have to implement in all contexts of consumer protection in their own environment.
