(Siem Reap Province): On Thursday, June 16th, 2022, the Consumer Protection Competition and Fraud Repression Directorate-General (CCF) holds a Dissemination Workshop on "Cambodian Halal Affairs" in Siem Reap with the participation of Mr. Sin Sideth, Deputy Director General of the CCF Directorate-General, Representative of H.E. Phan Oun, Royal Government of Cambodia Delegate in charge of the Director General of the CCF Directorate-General, and a member of the Cambodia Halal Steering Committee “CHSC”, H.E. Nak Neron, Siem Reap Provincial deputy governor, and with the participation of the Cambodia Halal Technical Working Group “CHTWG”, the Department of Commerce, the Siem Reap Provincial Administration, Departments around the province, Companies, Enterprises, Hotels, Restaurants, Handicrafts and nearly 100 university students.
This workshop is an important forum for the purpose of disseminating and raising awareness of the benefits of using the Cambodian halal logo, other relevant regulations, the procedure for applying for the Certificate of Cambodia Halal Product Technical Standard , Competent Institution in charge of managing the Halal Affairs and promoting the trade of Cambodian halal products, especially exporting to regional and global markets.
Please also note that in the last 5 years (2017-2022), Cambodia has only 123 enterprises and companies that have received the Certificate of Cambodia Halal Product Technical Standard (a total of 823 items), which is a small number. In this regard, the dissemination workshop on "Cambodian Halal Affairs" today has contributed significantly to the promotion of the application for the Certificate of Cambodia Halal Product Technical Standard of enterprises, companies and services in Siem Reap, which is a tourist province of Cambodia to receive national and international guests, especially Muslim tourists.
At the same time, while encouraging the development of halal products in Cambodia and to build trust, protect consumers and participate in promoting the trade of halal products and halal services with standard equality and integrity, the CCF Directorate-General of the Ministry of Commerce also plays an important role in investigating, and cracking down on the use of Cambodian halal logo without applying for inspection, evaluation and/or without approval from the Cambodia Halal Steering Committee “CHSC”.
