The forum was presided over by His Excellency Phan Oun, Delegate of Royal Government of Cambodia in Charge as Director General of CCF and Mr. Tassilo Brinzer, President of EuroCham with the attendance from Excellencies, Lok Chumteavs, Representatives of relevant Ministries and Institutions and Representatives of business who are the member of EuroCham.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the forum, HE Phan Oun stated that dishonest business activities were becoming a global concern, including the smuggling of counterfeit products, tax evasion, and illegal trade in goods and services that cost the governments billions of dollars in tax revenue. At the same time, legitimate business loses benefit while consumers, in particular received inappropriate product. Therefore, Law on Consumer Protection, which was officially signed by the His Majesty the King of the Kingdom of Cambodia on November 2, 2019, plays an important role in protecting consumer rights and interests from exploitation and dishonesty from corrupt businessmen, as well as to promote a fair competitive environment. In 2022, the CCF Directorate General has implemented its duties in accordance with the provisions stated under the Law on Consumer Protection through cooperation with international cooperation agencies to organize Law dissemination workshop to the public and business in all sectors, and CCF has enforce it duties by preventing the circulation of hazardous, counterfeits and the violation of Exclusive Right.
Alongside with organization of the Forum, a Memorandum of Understanding between Memorandum of Understanding between The Consumer Protection Competition and Fraud Repression Directorate General “CCF” and the European Chamber of Commerce in Cambodia “EuroCham” in order to ensure future prosperity and attract investment to the Kingdom of Cambodia through cooperation, technical assistance and sharing of experience between the CCF and EuroCham.
